Stretch & Catch

 Reading Program

The Stretch & Catch® is a results driven reading center with
a proprietary method of teaching reading to all students at all reading
levels. Stretch & Catch® has a proven track record of helping children
who are gifted, children with learning disabilities and every level
in-between.  Before starting, each child is given an initial assessment
that will determine his/her current reading level, therefore creating
a literacy plan for each child.
On average, our students move up 1 entire reading level every 5 sessions.
Stretch & Catch® Reading Center specializes in teaching reading at
each child's instructional level from preschool-middle school,
including children with dyslexia & learning disabilities.
Stretch & Catch® uses developmentally appropriate, hands-on program
to teach each child how to read and spell at his/her instructional level.
Our 1:1 private online sessions have the same amazing results as our in-person sessions.  On
average, our students move ONE READING LEVEL EVERY FIVE SESSIONS.
Your child will need two items:
1. a computer or laptop with a web cam
2. a Kindle or iPad

Stretch & Catch’s® unique LEAP Clinics are specially designed for families looking to get a LEAP on their child’s reading, in a short amount of time.  LEAP Clinics are now offered every week.

LEAP Clinics include five consecutive sessions.  Each LEAP week will focus on the specific reading skills your child needs. These clinics are so effective,  you will see significant improvement in your child’s reading skills in just five short days!  On average, our students typically move an entire reading level in one LEAP week!

How To Get a LEAP On Your Child's Reading?

First, your child will meet privately for an initial literacy evaluation.  This evaluation will include your child’s reading level, high frequency word level, and developmental spelling level in order to place him/her in the correct Stretch & Catch® level.  After we meet with your child, you will receive a report on your child's Initial Literacy Evaluation sent to you via email within 5 days.

LETTER NAME (Kindergarten-1st Grade)

Students learn about beginning sounds, blends (bl, sl, etc.), word families and short vowel sounds. This is the stage in which students are

usually taught to read.

Within Word (1st Grade-3rd Grade)

Students spell most short vowel sounds correctly, and they learn about long vowel sounds and patterns in one-syllable words. In this stage, students can read and spell many words correctly because of their automatic knowledge of letter sounds and short vowel patterns.

Syllable Juncture (3rd Grade-5th Grade)

Students learn about the conventions of joining syllables in words with two or more syllables. Students are expected to spell many multi-syllable words.

We use Fry's first 1000 high frequency words
